You’re here because something’s not right in your life.
Been there, done that.
You’re probably thinking, “Great, another self-help article.” But hang on.
Am not here to funnel you into buying my course or something like that.
I’m not here to preach. I’m here to share what I’ve seen destroy lives — including my own.
And the worst part? You’re probably doing them right now.
1. You’re Numbing Yourself
I used to think I was “unwinding” after work—some mindless scrolling? maybe a video game or two.
No big deal, right?
Wrong.
What’s actually going on here is: that you’re slowly killing your ability to feel.
Anything uncomfortable? Numb it.
Bored? Numb it.
Stressed? You guessed it. Numb it.
Here’s what matters most: every time you numb, you’re robbing yourself of growth.
Think it’s easy? It’s not.
The goal isn’t to do more, but to do it right.
Here’s the part no one talks about numbing is addictive. Not just chemically, but emotionally.
You’re not going to believe this, but… the discomfort you’re avoiding is exactly what you need.
Sounds simple, right? But there’s a catch.
How to fix it:
Set a “discomfort timer” for 10 minutes a day. Sit with your thoughts. No distractions.
Replace one numbing habit with a challenging one. Trade beer for boxing, scrolling for writing.
Ask yourself: “What am I avoiding right now?” Face it head-on.
I know what you’re thinking, and you’re right. It’s not easy. But neither is a life half-lived.
2. You’re Letting Your Calendar Run Your Life
You’ve probably felt this too. The endless meetings, the back-to-back commitments, the feeling that you’re always behind.
I didn’t get it either, at first.
I thought being busy meant being productive. I was wrong.
What’s next might shock you: your calendar is lying to you.
It’s not about filling every minute. It’s about owning your time.
Here’s the truth: most of what’s on your calendar doesn’t matter.
“The difference between successful people and very successful people is that very successful people say ‘no’ to almost everything.” — Warren Buffett
You might not like hearing this, but…. you need to start saying “no” more often.
How to fix it:
Audit your calendar. Ruthlessly cut anything that doesn’t align with your goals.
Schedule “do not disturb” blocks. Protect your focus time like your life depends on it.
Before saying “yes,” ask: “Will this matter in a year?” If not, it’s a no.
The goal isn’t to do more but to do what matters.
3. You’re Letting Your Inner Critic Run the Show
I used to let that voice in my head dictate everything.
“You’re not good enough.” “Who do you think you are?” “You’ll never make it.”
Here’s the part no one talks about: that voice is lying to you.
It’s not protecting you. It’s paralyzing you.
What’s actually going on here is: you’re letting fear make your decisions.
“The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.” — Sylvia Plath
You’ve probably felt this too. The hesitation before hitting “send” on that email. The project you never started.
You don’t have to silence that voice. You just need to stop believing it.
How to fix it:
Name your inner critic. I call mine “dumb.” It’s harder to take seriously when it has a stupid name.
Keep a “wins” journal. Write down three things you did well every day. No matter how small.
Practice self-compassion. Talk to yourself like you’d talk to a friend.
You might not like hearing this, but… your inner critic is full of s**t. And it’s time to tell it to shut up.
Final Thoughts
I’d love to tell you I’ve mastered all of this. That I’m some enlightened guru who’s got it all figured out.
But that’s not how life works.
I still struggle. Every. Damn. Day.
Some days I win. Some days dumb wins.
One day at a time. One habit at a time.
